FIRE DOOR AWARENESS COURSE

Why is it important to learn about fire doors?

Fire doors are "Engineered Fire Safety Devices" that will save lives and reduce the spread of fire IF they are manufactured, installed and maintained correctly. Following a Fire Door Inspectors survey carried out by the FDIS in 2022, 75% of over 100,000 doors surveyed failed the inspection due to a lack of basic knowledge. This course will enhance your knowledge and help you to be part of the improvements within the industry.

What is covered in the training?

  • What is a fire door and what are the differences between a doorset and a fire door assembly - the Pros and Cons of each.

  • Best practice for site measure, installation and maintenance.

  • Practical hands-on installation training with experienced installers and maintainers.

FIRE STOPPING COURSE

Why is it important to learn about fire stopping?

Because the pipe and cable penetrations supplying power, water, etc. are mostly hidden in wall and ceiling voids, it's vital they are installed correctly, with the right products and sealed correctly. Otherwise, if there's a fire, the pipes and cables are likely to melt and cause smoke to spread throughout a building and more importantly people may die!

What is covered in the training?

  • Passive fire - what it is and risk areas to be aware of.

  • Compartmentation - reducing fire spread within a building.

  • Reinstatement requirements and fire ratings.

  • Fire stopping products and associated manufacturers - technical support / test evidence and selecting correct products for respective penetrations.

  • Fire stopping best practice for site inspection, installation and maintenance surveys, certifications, guidance notes and regulations as well as Third-Party Certification Schemes.

  • Practical hands-on installation training with experienced installers.
