The LFS team are looking forward to hosting a stand at FIREX International next week. We are excited to be demonstrating PASSIFIRE – our mobile app and portal for fire door and fire stopping compliancy, as well as sharing information on our Maintenance Schemes. Great news! We’ve just been awarded 4.4 out of 5 stars by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for an impressive 41 out of 51 points. The CCS team held the assessment at Ducane Court, an Art Deco residential building which is the largest of its kind and where we have been upgrading around 700 residential and communal doors. These works are being undertaken for our client Calfordseaden.
Good news – we are proud and delighted that Jana Kuvaitseva is now a Construction Ambassador having completed the programme developed by the CITB. Jana is now qualified to use her training and work experience with LFS to promote the industry to our young people and enhance the links between education and employment. This is further evidence of the priority LFS place on training and providing opportunities to young people.
Congratulations to the Health and Safety Team. We’ve, once again, achieved the Exor Certificate of Accreditation, level Gold. A first Validation visit from Considerate Constructors resulted in a great score for the team working at Roshni House in SW17 on behalf of our client PA Housing. We were delighted to receive a score of 41 out of 50 on this Support Housing project which we’ve been working on since November and which includes Fire Stopping to various flats plus electrical upgrades to communal areas.
We’re delighted to be SILVER Consider Constructor winners! The LFS team attended the prestigious awards ceremony in London on 16th November and were honoured to collect their hard-won award amongst many industry greats. Winning a National Site Award is an exceptional achievement which recognises those sites that have made the greatest contribution towards improving the image of construction. Our nominated sites were the Old Ford Estate and Donnybrook Court where the LFS team excelled at achieving the high standards expected from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Introducing LFS and our brand new look.
As we expand our services nationally a rebrand was in order. We will now trade as LFS and it’s business as usual within London and the South East. As we continue to grow we are also committed to investment in people and capacity and, of course, continual investment in accreditation and fire testing.
Following some misinformation from the Government recently, which dictated that timber fire doors should be tested from both sides, LFS have taken the initiative to fire test their timber doors. Despite the Government now retracting this ‘ruling’ LFS believe it’s prudent to reassure their customers particularly Local Authorities that their timber doors are fully tested on both sides. Furthermore in light of this, LFS have previously fire tested both sides of the glass in their glazed doors successfully.
This additional testing demonstrates LFS’s determination to stay at the forefront of passive fire protection and it is through this continual testing and certification with all of the major fire industry bodies that puts them ahead of their competitors in this field.
We’re getting ready to present ourselves at Healthcare Estates in Manchester next month. This event will be held at Manchester central and we will be part of their newest zone – the Fire and Security Zone, which promotes passive fire solutions. This is particularly important to us, as we are currently expanding our operations throughout the UK and this is a great opportunity to promote our business to the healthcare industry. Please visit us on stand G56 and be sure to catch our speaker – Gordon Alexander – who will be speaking in the Fire & Security Theatre on Competency and Compliancy at 11.15am on the 9th October.
To demonstrate our support of Fire Door Safety Week in a really tangible way we are offering a FREE FIRE DOOR SURVEY to anyone who needs one! Simply call us on 0207 237 0958 throughout the week of 25th September to 1st October so that we can arrange yours.
Remember an inspection could save you money if an upgrade is required rather than new doors.
This offer is limited to bookings received between the dates of 25th September to 1st October and one door per request.

In response to a rapidly expanding customer base, London Fire Solutions have invested in an additional manufacturing unit close to their Head Office, near the Old Kent Road in South East London. This additional capacity boasts a range of specialist woodworking machinery including an SCM CNC Router, a fully lit spray room complete with a tracking system and drying tunnel.
The team at LFS are all skilled operatives who manufacture bespoke Fire & Enhanced Security Doors and Screens to the latest exacting standards and undertake repairs to the latest Approved Repair Techniques.

Having completed fire door surveys at the 20-storey Ropemaker Building we have now been awarded fire stopping and fire door works. Works will begin today for Barry’s Locks – security building specialists. Ropemaker Place is an iconic, contemporary building which features on our city’s skyline and was designed by Arup Associates. We’re delighted to be assisting in keeping this beautiful building safe from fire.
Since being commissioned by Clarion Housing Group to undertake fire stopping and upgrade works at various residential sites we are successfully meeting challenging deadlines. So much so that we are delighted to be tasked with a further 70 lower storey blocks throughout London and the South East as well as the North of England. These extended works are due to complete with a 12 month period.
Ducane Court is an impressive Art Deco residential building which was once ear-marked by Hitler as his HQ for when he invaded England. Rumour has it that with some modifications this building was one of several that could be shaped like a Nazi Swaztika! We were commissioned by TH Kenyon PLC to undertake fire stopping and the installation of new fire doors. Due to the building being Art Deco (the largest of its kind) the residents were keen for the doors to not be replaced as they are suited to the style of the building. To try to meet the resident’s requirements LFS offered to test the existing doors for compliancy. They provided a specification and upgrade to an existing door and fire tested it next to a door without any adjustments enabling the client to have full disclosure of how these 80 year old doors would respond in a fire situation and giving them the option to upgrade rather than replace. The result was that the upgraded door lasted 10 minutes longer in a fire testing situation. The outcome being that nearly 700 doors will now be upgraded rather than replaced meaning the client has made significant savings and the residents have been relieved of the upheaval of door replacements.
We are busy undertaking new repairs and maintenance works for Clarion Housing Group throughout the Islington area. Our works at various residential sites include fire door upgrades, door renewals and fire stopping.
Clarion Housing Group is the largest housing association in the UK and we are proud to work for them, keeping their properties safe from fire.
Door surveys are complete for the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham at 48 sites throughout west London. Our works are done at determining whether doors need to be upgraded or renewed. Sites assessed included the iconic Kensington Town Hall, Hammersmith Central Library and Fulham Town Hall amongst others.
We’re getting around! Due to the demand of works required in the south with The Guinness Partnership we are delighted to extend our services throughout the South East and South West for the Guinness Properties sector of their business. Works required include door upgrades, door renewals, fire door repairs, loft hatches and fire stopping works in Brighton, Basingstoke, Swindon, High Wycombe, Horley, Guildford and Dorchester. The Guinness Partnership provide high quality homes and meet a range of housing needs.

Since the beginning of August we’ve been busy doing upgrades as well as installing new fire doors and fire stopping at Brentwood Foyer and Messenger Court for Clarion Housing Group. We are due to complete this project at the end of September. We’re also doing door upgrades and fire stopping at Hanley Gardens, also for Clarion Housing Group – one of the UK’s largest house builders.
We’re scaling new heights at this skyscraper in London’s Tower Hamlets district. We are upgrading doors and undertaking fire stopping works at Streamlight Tower, a 24-storey residential building in E14. Works are on behalf of Axis Europe and will be completed at the end of August.
We are in the process of installing fire stopping and new fire doors in the basement of DuCane Court in Balham. This impressive Art Deco Residential building was once ear-marked by Hitler as his HQ for when he invaded Blighty. Rumour has it that with some modifications this building was one of several that could be shaped like a Nazi Swaztika!
We are busy working on the Family Mosaic Housing Estates in South East London. Works (which are for valued client Axis Europe) include repairs and maintenance plus passive fire protection and certified upgrade works. Family Mosaic are one of the largest housing, care and support service providers in London and the South East, managing approximately 26,000 affordable rented homes.
We believe this incident demonstrates just how our people have saving lives at the heart of their business;
Whilst working at one of the Notting Hill Housing estates, Alan Kelly House, on behalf of Axis Europe one of our team had cause to save one of the residents’ lives through his swift actions and the implementation of his first aid training.
One of the residents – a wheel chair user – suffered extensive bleeding whilst accessing the gates (it’s suspected that he damaged the arteries due to colliding into the wall). Our quick-thinking operative quickly identified the potential danger to the gentleman’s life and managed to apply enough pressure to the wound for the 45 minutes it took for the ambulance to arrive. Having lost 2.5 pints of blood the paramedics and the client were quick to congratulate our operative on saving the gentleman’s life. The resident is now recovering in hospital and awaiting a blood transfusion. We wish him a speedy recovery.
We’re delighted to be undertaking fire stopping works at 7 residential blocks for Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation Limited (KCTMO) who are responsible for the management of nearly 10,000 properties on behalf of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Building on our reputation for supplying only the very best, accredited materials we have recently established contracts with industry leaders: Stormguard, Lloyd Worrall, Nicholls & Clarke amongst others.
We’re delighted to have achieved the Certified Quality System ISO9001, proving we deliver a consistently high level of service. Great to have this recognised by this widely respected measurement system! Here are the principles by which we have been measured – and have been successful;
INVOLVEMENT OF PEOPLE
SYSTEM APPROACH TO MANAGEMENT
FACTUAL APPROACH TO DECISION MAKING
MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL SUPPLIER RELATIONS
The LFS team have successfully tested 110 traditional-style letter plates at BM TRADA for the Spa Green estate (located opposite the esteemed Sadler’s wells). This was in response to a request from the London Borough of Islington to maintain the original appearance of the letter plates. Nice to be keeping the detail traditional but safe!
All of our installers benefitted from further BM TRADA in fire door maintenance and installation this month. Our continual investment in staff training reinforces our position as specialists within an industry where training and skills acquisition are imperative.
LFS’s Director, Jim Hannon, is now an accredited and qualified Fire Door Inspector under the FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme). As only 1 of 5 qualified fire door inspectors in the London area Jim will be welcoming enquiries from any businesses or individuals concerned with optimising the safety of their fire doors throughout London and the South East. FDIS Certified Inspectors are uniquely qualified to undertake fire door inspections. Not only have they achieved a Diploma in fire doors but they have also had their knowledge assessed by Exova Warringtonfire.
We’re pleased to have completed a time critical project at Crofton Infant and Junior Schools in Bromley for Ridge & Partners LLP. The renewal of over 125 fire door sets and glazing replacements as well as fire stopping and several door upgrades were completed on time and will ensure the children have returned to schools that have maximum protection.
London Fire Solutions are now fully certified under the Considerate Constructors Scheme. As this is the recognised benchmark for how sites interact with their community we are delighted to receive this acknowledgement. We have worked hard to meet the 8-point code set by the scheme – all designed to encourage performance beyond statutory requirements and all have an impact on the environment we work in and the people we affect.
Our fire doors play a major role in the fire safety and protection in various schools throughout London and the Home Counties. We’ve been busy inspecting, surveying and testing and in preparation for the Autumn term we will be renewing approximately 130 doors in at least 2 schools in Orpington.
We’ve also been asked to survey the safety of the existing fire doors at various schools within the Tower Hamlets area. Good to know that under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) these schools are ensuring procedures are in place to reduce the likelihood of fire and thereby protecting their students.
